How's this for manaakitanga?

Hami S has made us all proud with his efforts this week. Last year Hami fundraised $50 by selling greeting cards at school. With the money he earned, Hami bought 48 handballs to share amongst the Kauri and Puriri classes. What an awesome gesture!! Hami, your efforts set an amazing example to us all. Tino pai to mahi - great work.

Duffy Assembly

Thanks so much to Tash for coming along to speak to us at the Duffy Assembly on Monday afternoon. Some very inspirational words. And congratulations to our performers and MC's who all did great jobs with running the assembly - Ketula, Berlin, Dylan, Hami A, Neva, Poppy and Mahalia.

Aranui Rest Home visit

Today, half of Room 23 went to Aranui Rest Home to spend time with some of their clients. We had an awesome time! Although some of us were a bit shy to begin with, it didn't take long before everyone was chatting and laughing like best mates! The respectful, caring and positive attitudes shown by all of the students was just amazing - they represented themselves and their school with pride.
Before we left, we sang Tamariki Owairaka to them, which they all seemed to enjoy! This visit is the start of what we hope will be a long term relationship with Aranui. Our next exchange will be at the start of Term 2 when some of the Aranui people will join us for Garden to Table.

Rangatiratanga - leadership

Nga mihi nui ki a koe Hami!

Hami was our Duffy award winner last week. He is a young man who displays rangatiratanga through his actions. Hami's caring, kind nature sets a fine example to others. Congratulations and thank you for your efforts Hami!
