Meet Owairaka's newest heihei!

With Turbo and Butter Chicken having a little holiday while the chicken coop is being renovated, Holly, Ethan, Mahalia and Dylan took some time out from Garden to Table to try their feathers on for size...

I really liked your chickens names, Turbo and Butter Chicken. I think it’s awesome that you have animals at your school like pets, and I reckon we should have a school/class pet!

I used to have a chicken of my own that lived at my aunties, I can’t remember his/her name though because I was about five.

What do you guys think about free range chickens? Do Butter chicken and Turbo get time to have a run around outside, or are they always in the coop?

I look forward to seeing your new renovated chicken coop. Maybe you could upload a picture of the coop when it’s finished.

    Cheers Allie.

It is great to see you are renovating the chicken coop. Are you doing this to keep predators away, such as stoats, possum, rats etc?I am asking this question because I am interested in trapping possums.

What do think about chickens being in a coop?Do you think they should be free-range?I would like to see the end product with happy looking chickens.

I like the names of the chickens. Turbo and butter chicken. Their pretty wacky. It’s pretty cool that you have animals at your school. Our school only has a little garden.

I know someone that named their chicken Nugget. I know a few people that have chickens and little baby chicks and they are so cute.

Maybe when you are finished the renovations you could post a picture? Are your chickens free range or are they always in the coop? Just wondering did or are you guys going to cook the chickens?

It’s nice to see that science is still finding ways to shock us. It looks like the renovating is going pretty well. Regardless, I would like to know why the chicken coop needs renovating, is it because of predators like possums and cats? I have two cats and I think that I might be able to help if there are predators like cats. Or does it just need natural renovating?

How are the chickens? Do you think they are free range? Do they have their coop back or is it still being made? Do you still have to be the chickens or not? If it is done I would like to see how it looks when you have finished. I would hope it was done so you could stop being chickens and get back to work and leave laying eggs to the professionals.

  6. Hello Room 23!
I like your name for butter chicken!

Was it fun in the chicken coop? Are Turbo and Butter Chicken free range or are they always in their chicken coop? Are either of them roosters that crow in the morning? During your Garden to Table do you ever cook your chickens?

I know someone who has loads of chickens and little chicks they are really cute!

Do you know how many eggs your chickens lay per year?

I like your chicken coop I’ve never heard of a school that has a chicken coop, our school has a garden but not a chicken coop.

Do you guys eat the eggs because one day you could have a breakfast day where you get to make your own breakfast at school. It would be quite cheap expect for when you need the bread because you also have a garden don’t you?

Also if you don’t use your eggs I'm sure you would but if there's leftovers you could sell them to raise money for your school.

Also i'm just wondering do you guys where school clothes we do but do you because in most of your photos you're wearing mufti?
